Thank you for this article! I now see that I had aphantasia after a concussion in 2016. The first several doctors I saw assured me I had no brain damage and didn't have anything to offer when I told them it was different inside my head...it had gone dark. I couldn't see things there or move information around in my head anymore. I had no metacognition. There was a visual and a motion component that was gone to my inner experience. I started working on thinking through hearing, but that was foreign to me. Eventually it was fixed with experimental eye exercises...a functional neurologist suspected it was a visual processing issues and it was. Can't wait to learn more about this.
