How do authors grow their readership? You’ve heard all the things:

  1. Start with compelling, high-quality work.
  2. Grow and continue to grow your own email list that you contact on a regular schedule with fresh, relevant content and great offers.
  3. Connect with readers directly on social media. Engage! Participate! Choose all the best hashtags. Try giveaways and other promotions.
  4. Collaborate with influencers, bookstagrammers, book bloggers.
  5. Connect with potential readers through suitable online communities and forums, such as those on LinkedIn, Goodreads, Reddit, and Quora.
  6. Repurpose all of your content for maximum leverage.
  7. Build your author presence and brand with a full-developed author website and consistent brand-focused marketing. Think of a brand as a promise…what can readers count on you to deliver every time?
  8. Try paid advertising with FB and Amazon ads.
  9. Do lots of events and a range of events — readings, panels, signinga, Q&As, lectures, webinars, workshops, book clubs, tours. Sell books after events. Collect names for your mailing list and sign up new social…
