Hi Susie...I'd be interested in any metrics on social media engagement and sales you have. I've been an indie book publisher since 2004 and I've not seen social media engagement lead to sales in 99% of cases. Does it work for fiction? (Asking because I'm only familiar with nonfiction...) I think it's necessary for all authors to be online and engaged, but I don't think it actually sells book except for the narrowest of niches or for the most brand-name of authors. Would agree with you on writing articles, working one's existing network (and growing a list of fans), and events of all kinds.
