Cookies Are an Author Strategy
Take a cue from decorated author Christine Sneed and create your own bookstore memories
Author Randy Richardson (Lost in the Ivy, Cheeseland, Havana Hangover), summarized a recent delightful bookstore event with author Christine Sneed:
A virtual who’s who of Chicago’s literary community came out to celebrate Christine Sneed and her new book, Please Be Advised. It was warm and fun and, I think, it reminded us all of how much we miss having Christine here in Chicago. Not to mention her mom’s freshly baked cookies, which this time she had individually wrapped for everyone at the book signing table to take home with them (they were delicious!).
Why do I mention this for everyone promoting books? Is it to suggest you all need to start bribing readers with cookies at your events? No.
No, but…
Christine Sneed is a decorated author (Portraits of a Few of the People I’ve Made Cry, The Virginity of Famous Men) with five books with noted publishers under her belt. She was able to pack the house for this bookstore event as she passed through a town with many friends, fans, and admirers. And she brought freshly baked, individually wrapped cookies for the crowd. And it apparently wasn’t the first time.
