“Newish.” They’re all variations of things that have been done before but they’re also things I haven’t necessarily seen in these iterations. “Would you like an affirmation?” said no author to me ever at any prior book event. But author and social psychologist Anne Beall held out a tub containing folded-up slips of paper, each with a different affirmation typed on it. “You are capable of handling many things,” I read out loud, and thus our conversation began.
