A Twitter thread from November 2022 I followed asked if selling merch side by side with one’s books was tacky.

Let’s be clear: To be tacky or not to be tacky is not the question.

Don’t be tacky.

But absolutely sell merch alongside your books if it makes sense for you, your content, your readers, and your customers. No stuff for the sake of extra stuff. And for sure no junk.
