A Proven Outreach Formula for Those Building an Author Business

It has worked for me and others multiple times

This article is short and sweet but its formula delivers.

You may know by now that numbers and the numbers game make their way from time to time into my author business and book marketing advice. (Jump to the end of this piece for examples.)

Things quantitative may not be your literary cup of tea but I like and understand numbers (my first business was math tutoring) and so I will ocasionally nudge writers in their direction.

But back to the power formula

There’s a non-sales sales formula I’ve used multiple times to re-build a business/re-generate income as needed (including after having a kid, after recovering from a concussion, and during the pandemic) as well as to sustain my business income over time.

And it works for authors and other solo businesses too.

It’s this:

  • If you need to replace a full-time income, spend four hours a day reaching out to others;
  • To replace a half-time income, spend two hours a day;
  • To replace a quarter of your income, spend one hour a day; and
  • To maintain a business, spend…
